Interview: Bass Music Awards

I took a quick moment to interview the creators of the Bass Music Awards. Symphonic is the official sponsor for the “Best Album” award. Get to know the guys behind the movement and how to get involved!

For those unaware, can you tell us a little bit about the Bass Music Awards?
The Bass Music Awards (BMAs) was launched in 2013 as a positive way to give something back to the industry, artists and organizations that work so extremely hard. We are focused on giving the public ‘their say’ so that they can honor collectives and individuals for their achievement, ambition and dedication within one of the most competitive industries in creative history.

What artists have been featured before?
Past winning artists include The Prodigy, Netsky, Disclosure, Rudimental, Gorgon City, Maya Jane Coles, Sigma, Goldie, Moody Good, Zomboy, Modestep and Chase and Status. Exclusive interviews and performances from winners and nominated artists can all be found on our YouTube channel.

What are your goals with the event?
The physical BMA event is a great way for the public and industry to ‘celebrate bass’ together. It is also a wonderful platform for fresh new talent to perform alongside the stars and showcase their sound to thousands of bass music enthusiasts. We have a HUGE night planned with lots of surprises, special guests and of course the biggest bass music lineup in London!

What makes you different from any other award or recognition type of program?
A lot of music-based award ceremonies are stale and old fashioned in our opinion. Our valuable team are all forward thinking and offer so many futuristic and very special attributes! We present our community with what they want to see and hear through our exciting networks leading up to the show. We have an in house radio station streaming fresh music 24/7, plus we feature exclusive artist video performances, consistent exclusive DJ Mixes, news stories, festival features a wonderful voting interface and of course a live all-night event for the masses to get down to their favorite sounds at one of the world’s most iconic venues Ministry of Sound!

Can you tell us where people can participate and vote?
Absolutely, all voting takes place via our website www.bassmusicawards.com.

Which sponsors and brands are supporting and involved with the event?
We are extremely fortunate to have some wonderful corporations, companies and organizations from around the world supporting the Bass Music Awards. As the BMAs reach the perfect demographic we are working with brands that specialize in all forms of entertainment, music production, fashion, refreshments and distribution. This year’s partners are PlayStation Music, Skiddle, Symphonic Distribution, Jagermeister, Ministry of Sound, Crooks & Castles, Mixcloud, VidZone, Traktor, Native Instruments, Who Sampled, PK, JL Audio, Concrete, On the Rise, Tune of the Day, Never Say Die, Nusic TV, Pack London and of course Noiseprn, plus we have great Samsung and Android video connectivity for all video based content.
